I am a Ballarat based artist who has been involved in arts practice for the past 30 years. The primary motivating factor for the images I use in my painting has always been about intuitively accessing the source or essence of the subject matter. In this way I approach my art making with the innate belief that what has been distilled and purified has great transformative power. I find for me this happens best through abstraction as it enables direct access to the unconscious. It becomes a ‘feeling’ connection rather than a ‘knowing’ connection.
I worked at the University of Ballarat for 11 years, up until the end of 2012, teaching in the Diplomas of Visual Arts and Ceramics. I have a BA in Visual Art, Diploma of Ceramics and Certificate of Initiatic Art Therapy. I completed my Master of Visual Arts by Research in 2013 with the title of the exegesis ‘Revealing the Essence of the Sacred’. In 2014 I launched my business Bindu Creative Wellness offering soul centred art making workshops, meditation and healing.
