Pauline is a visual artist, based in Ballarat. She creates intricate, whimsical drawings that blur the line between figurative & abstract art. Pauline is not afraid to work with bright, bold colour, & uses fineliner pens to distort everyday motifs. Her images both challenge & delight the viewer.
I have been marvelling at the intricacies & beauty of drawing & mark making since I was a young girl.
Growing up on my family farm, “Askeaton”, in the Wimmera, I was surrounded by the natural beauty of the Richardson River & the mighty gum trees lining the riverbanks. The power & beauty of nature fascinated me as a young girl, I felt a strong desire to express my feelings about this landscape from a young age.
Inside the family home, I marvelled at the beauty of the art nouveau, pressed metal ceilings & walls, following the line of a beautiful nouveau-inspired plant or decoration, mesmerised by this beautiful design element. I really believe that this design feature has become part of my DNA. The intricacy & beauty of the organic line is something that I explore in my art.
