Author name: Aldona Kmieć Photography

Aldona Kmieć is a Polish-born photographic artist working in Ballarat and Melbourne. Drawing on her childhood spent on a dairy farm in communist era Poland, Aldona’s photography and installation art explores memory and identity. Often combining her photography with other elements such as sound, the written word and constructed physical objects, Aldona creates site-specific installations that encourage the viewer to experience her photography from a deeper than a 2D perspective. Aldona has also been working as a commercial photographer, shooting across small business, startups, lifestyle and documentary photography. High quality photography is essential for any business. Whether it’s for online use or in printed media, Aldona can creatively provide the content you need. Her photography services span a range of specialised imagery from ecommerce, styled shoots to architecture, headshots and conceptual projects. Aldona has exhibited extensively; her photography is held in public and private collections. She has been the recipient of a number of prizes, including Under the Floorboards studio residency award, Ballarat Art Foundation’s Eureka Prize Award and Centre for Contemporary Photography Leica CCP Salon prize. She was also a finalist for the Bowness Photography Prize and Maggie Diaz Photography Prize.
