Presenting a selection of the collections best loved works alongside some of its rarely seen gems, the half century milestone of the Ararat Gallery provides a moment to reflect on the importance of the TAMA collection. An extraordinary repository that tracks the development of fibre based practice from the early 1970s through to today; a legacy elevating the TAMA collection to one of the  most significant in Australia. Referencing the expedition of the Fench explorer Nicolas Baudin (1754-1803), Mason's reliquaries are a contemporary interpretation of early contact with the politics of exploration, discovery and colonial prospecting using stone, pewter, gold leaf surfaced cast resin and French historical objects.
