I have always been interested in the Arts but more in the Music side. Having sung all my life and that was where I tended to be lead. Attending ACU in 2004 – 2007, while studying my B. Ed., I had the opportunity to learn about 2D and 3D art and the process of printmaking. Working with children and teaching them about the Visual Arts in a meaningful way is always a pleasure. I have begun private art classes for children. Email me on susanclarkeartworks@gmail.com if you are interested.
I joined the Ballarat Society of Artists in 2014 and have been involved in many of their activities and exhibitions. A highlight was being chosen for the Director’s Cut art exhibition at the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery with a pastel work.
I have enjoyed the opportunities available in Ballarat to learn and share my art. I have completed Visual Art units online with Curtin University and also attended numerous classes run at the Ballarat Gallery with life drawing and portrait. Federation University has offered short courses in Printmaking that I have attended at night. For a time, I attended oil and pastel classes with Robyn Kittelty-Redman. Ballarat is a wonderful artistic centre.
I am interested in all types of printmaking: mono-printing, linoprint, collagraph, drypoint, engraving and paint and drawing.
My art can be seen at the Castlemaine Artists Market and other markets at various times during the year. A friend and I share a stall called ‘Pen and Ink’. I always show at events run by the Ballarat Society of Artists Inc. My first solo Exhibition was at RADMAC during October 2017. In May/June 2018, ‘Pen and Ink’ had a joint exhibition called ‘Contemporary Fusion’ at The Red Door Gallery in Clunes.
Sharing art with others is a priviledge. Keep a look out for my print workshops. I have begun them this year. Usually during the school holiday weekends. Classes are 6 or 7 in size. Email or phone me for more information.
