Venue Street Address: Main Rd, Mt Egerton
Is the venue able to be booked by the public? Yes
Description of Venue: The Mt Egerton Mechanics Hall is over one hundred years old, and is a beautiful example of the way heritage buildings add charm to small country townships. Situated on Main Rd, the hall was originally on another site along Main Rd, and was moved to its current location in the early 1900s.
While land in the area was used for farming, the town of Mt Egerton was established 1853 with the discovery of gold. The town is nested amongst gently but highly undulating hills, and presents a picturesque environment for the local community and visitors.
The Hall is used regularly by the whole community for a wide range of activities including: Belly Dancing, community meetings, junior dance group, painting classes, music nights, community auctions, school events and playgroup. the hall is also available for private functions, such as anniversaries, reunions, funerals, weddings and birthday parties.
Heating is supplied in winter with wall mounted gas heaters, and overhead fans circulate the air in summer.
A great community aspect of the hall is an intimate meeting room and a lending book library, which operates on a trust system. The hall also features an outdoor area with outdoor table and BBQ. Currently the committee is working toward upgrading this out door area.
