Description of Venue: Once a booming mining town, Barkly's close knit population of sixty, now revolves around farming and the Pyrenees wine industry.
The hall was built in 1958 by the local community who raised funds through a variety of fund raising activities. The building's bricks are handmade from washed gravel from local mines, and the beautiful (dance) floor is made with ironbark also sources from the local area.
The hall features a large stage for performance and a curtained area for costume changes. Currently there is basic lighting and the hall committee are currently fundraising to install audio equipment because the hall is frequently used for music concerts. Apparently alot of musicians live within the surrounding area.
Two reverse cycle heating/cooling units are installed in the hall, and one is in the kitchen. The kitchen is large with ample space for the preparation and serving of food.
Off road parking is available holding up to approximately eighty cars.
The hall is suitable for a wide range of functions including weddings, birthday parties, community concerts, Christmas parties, fund raising events and family reunions. Currently the Barkly Ladies Group meet at the hall on a regular basis.
