I enjoyed drawing from early childhood but did not start painting, or using colour until I discovered pastels in my late 30’s. Since that time, and with lessening family and career commitments I have enjoyed learning as much as possible about art and painting techniques and have endeavoured to keep developing and improving as much as possible. To this end I have been mostly self-taught but have attended many workshops over the years with many and varied tutors.
My style is best described as Realist Impressionist. My particular influences are the Impressionists, the Australian Heidelberg group of Artists and Van Gogh but I find most Art a source of ideas and inspiration.
My subject matter is quite varied as I equally enjoy inting floral studies, landscapes ( especially plein-air), animals, street scenes ( also plein-air ), beach scenes and figurative studies. Although I love painting plein-air I am also happy to use my own photos as reference material in my studio.
More recently I have been attending Life Drawing Classes at Ballarat Fine Art Gallery and will soon attend Portrait Classes there.
