Visions in Substance
27/03/2014 @ 10:00 am - 06/04/2014 @ 5:00 pm
FreeThe first annual exhibition of the art and creativity of Port Phillip Housing Association (PPHA) residents was held in November at Brightspace Gallery St Kilda. Covering a range of media from painting to ceramics and photography to performance, 18 exhibitors displayed over 40 pieces. The exhibition was well received and considered a great success. Well over 50% of pieces on display sold.
Jane Smith, Director of the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka (M.A.D.E.), announced at the Visions in Substance opening ceremony that she would like the exhibition to tour to Ballarat in March 2014. M.A.D.E. is the newest museum in Australia and is located on the site of the Eureka Stockade. As this initiative gives voice to people who may feel disenfranchised or socially isolated, thus creating a true democracy, it is a good fit with M.A.D.E.
The exhibition is free and will run until 6 April 2014.
