“This show has been a long time coming.
It is a result of a journey from the city to the country, or at least a town.
Thoughts, impressions and scars from one place to the next. I felt the need to make physical impressions of how I coped with this transition. Some smooth, some difficult. I love the tangible history of Ballarat, so it seemed easy to connect and sort through object and place them within a new context.
The work has evolved as I experience, feel and draw, growing to a point that I feel a sense of my own balance and tension.
Life has taken many twists and turns in recent years so it was inevitable that my work would reflect that journey; Some stages chaotic and exhausting, some dark and reflective. Throughout this time I have been blessed with family and friends that have been incredibly supportive.
I have always sought light and a sense of contentment. I hope you can gain a glimpse of this journey within the work.”
