Put On Your Red Shoes And Dance The Blues – David Bowie Tribute Show – FITZROY
8 January, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 9 January, 2017 @ 12:00 am
Let’s put on our red shoes and dance the blues to commemorate Bowie’s first incomplete voyage around the sun with a musical soirée in homage to his incredible artistry on Sunday Jan 8 (as he would have become a septuagenarian on this day). This event will include a curation of local Bowie lovers such as the vivacious Genevieve Callaghan (AKA Hero) who will wow us with her hypnotic riff on Modern Love. Also a rare performance by local hearthrob Jonathon Griggs performing Space Oddity. Composer and pianist extraordinaire Luke Howard will tinkle the ivory for us. Whilst wordsmith to the stars Michael Roper will melt our hearts. Ellen Sorensen aka Shadow Feet will wield her whimsical powers with keys and vox to deliver you ‘Life on Mars’, the inimitable Christian Callaghan will bring the house down with ‘Tonight’ and lyrical pianist /singer Luky Annash will avail us a sweet rendition of ‘After All’. There will also be a grimy post-punk rendition of Rock n Roll Suicide by The Fourth (Byron Meyer and Alexi Freeman). There will most likely be a vertiable galaxy of other talented peeps (who are yet to come out of the woodwork…) so if you wanna contribute a performance of your own pick a song and let us know what you’re thinking or simply just come along and share the love. It being a Sunday, we’re thinking a nice early start of 5pm is going to work best, at the delightful Houndstooth on Johnston St, Fitzroy. So please save the date and start planning your outfits.
