‘Moods of Flowers’ Anne Ellison
29/07/2016 @ 6:00 pm - 30/08/2016 @ 5:30 pm
FreeExhibition by Anne Ellison in collaboration with Stephen Ziguras. Opening night Fri 29/7/16, 6-8pm, all welcome.
Exhibition of over 60 original artworks by Ballarat artist Anne Ellison. Her floral paintings are larger than life, bold and colourful. Anne’s interest in flowers began several years ago with botanical art using watercolours and acrylics. Using the richness of oils and colour, Anne continues her interest in floral art to explore mood. Silent they may be but flowers convey mood, which is at times joyous and celebratory and at other times contemplative, secretive and even mysterious. Anne’s aim is to invite the viewer to pause for a moment and contemplate the beauty of form and the mystery of mood in the floral form.
Stephen Ziguras from Eco Wood Design is exhibiting in collaboration with Anne Ellison. Stephen was a finalist in the 2015 Victorian Craft Awards. He has created hand-crafted sculptured bowls and furniture, the design of which have been influenced while living in Copenhagen. In terms of design principles, Stephen is strongly influenced by the simplicity and clean lines of the Arts and Crafts movement, and by the harmonious designs and respect for materials of mid-Century Danish Modern furniture. He also loves the balance and restraint of Japanese aesthetics, and its combination of formal symmetry with asymmetric elements to provide visual tension.
