24 November, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 10 February, 2019 @ 5:00 pm
& OPENING HOURS
24 November – 10 February
Open 10am – 5pm daily
LOCALS RULE: Identity uncovers a diversity of artistic practice from the Ballarat region. The exhibition showcases the talents of eleven local artists, who explore the theme of identity and what it means to be an artist working in a regional centre.
The sculptural works in the exhibition present a series of unique perspective on the theme, examining how a mask can conceal or reveal an artist’s identity. These large-format works have been individually created using a combination of industrial fabrication and handcrafted techniques, resulting in pieces that bridge the divide between 2D and 3D.
LOCALS RULE brings together the inventiveness and imagination of artists with the skill of engineering professionals to create a show that celebrates and connects local artists.
Included in the exhibition are: Bacondrum, Kat Barrand, Cax One, Cody Joy, Bren Luke, Ben Mangan, Aislinn McKinnis, Merda, Travis Price, Karl Stehn and Karl Woodward. The exhibition is curated by Jay Rankine and Kat Barrand.
