Living Heritage

Ballarat is famous for its public art; we have a significant collection of both heritage and
contemporary works throughout our city. Our fore fathers have created a legacy that marks
their time in history and our the city is all the better for it. The City of Ballarat is committed to building on this reputation and through the Public Art Advisory Committee has developed this unique project in collaboration with University of Ballarat to help bring some of our unknown heroes to light.

The Living Heritage project breaths life into some of our unsung characters of Ballarat’s
history, bringing to life the stories of the people who have helped shaped this town. University of Ballarat 1st year performing arts students have developed a character and story around 8 of our most significant heritage sites for the upcoming Heritage weekend. Come join our guided tour as we discover these living sculptures amongst our
extensive public art collection. The students will also be engaging in the long honoured tradition of busking, so if you feel inclined have your coins ready for a show of appreciation
