Two years ago Neville Hiatt was an avid spectator at the 2013 Ballarat International Foto Bienalle. His journey since then has seen him exhibiting his photographs in Ballarat and Melbourne. His exhibition Journeys – Sometimes you aren’t equipped or prepared, at The Grapes Hotel is his most challenging work to date. It took 6 months of planning and shooting to complete this body of work to be one of the 2015 fringe exhibitors for the Ballarat International Foto Bienalle. Shot in and around Ballarat each photograph captures a moment during life’s journey. A story is waiting to be discovered within each photograph as well as across the entire series. Neville’s own story of survival continues to influence his art as well as being a way of staying connected with community. Always in need of a productive venture to keep him going Journey’s II – Behind Closed Doors, is already being planned for an exhibition in 2016.
