“Good Fibrations” is the collaboration of the Ballarat Textiles Network, opening at Fairbanks Eye Gallery June 2016!!
The Ballarat Textile Network was formed in November 1998,
To provide a forum for people interested in Textiles and The Textile Arts.
Ballarat has many art and craft groups, working with fabrics, threads and fibres. These groups provide workshops etc. for their members and we try to fill the gaps and cater for people who choose not belong to a formal group. We have members from a wide area outside Ballarat as well as locals.
Many of our members work alone in their own studios and it is important that they have contact with others in the same situation. Having had some form of formal art training, many are aware of the pitfalls of working in isolation. This is why this network was formed.
Each year we give those on our mailing list the chance to exhibit with us at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, which is now very limiting or in a Gallery.
We hold talks etc. four times a year. It costs $5 per year to join our mailing list and $5 at the door for our talks to cover room hire etc. They are held at the Kohinoor Community Centre, Cnr. Sebastopol & Errard Sts. Fees are due in July each year.
