Gilgamesh at Castlemaine Fringe Festival

16 March, 2013 @ 8:00 pm - 9:15 pm

$10 – $12

The story tells of the deeds and misdeeds of Gilgamesh, the legendary king of Uruk, of his loving friendship with the wild man Enkidu and his encounter with Utanapishtu, the Sumerian Noah. The German poet Rilke regarded it as the epic, which above all, depicts humanity’s struggle with death. This telling by Peter Fernon uses puppetry, poetry  and song as well as the narration of a god besotted priest. Castlemaine musician, Charles Affleck,  provides a varied and dramatic soundscape.
