Exhibition: Catherine Ratcliffe @ Art Gallery of Ballarat
Kazka is a Ukrainian word for folklore, or fairy tale, traditional stories that embody the wisdom of ancestors, life experiences, feelings, and dreams., Ratcliffe draws on her own family experiences and connections to explore the ways in which folk stories can shape our understanding of the world while and influence our actions.
Catherine Ratcliffe is a Ballarat artist working in oil on canvas. In this exhibition she puts the question “Is how I am today a reflection of my upbringing or has my ancestral history played a part?”
Kazka marks the anniversary of the start of both the 2014 and 2022 Ukraine wars.
