David Bridie with a new band The Pills, will be coming to Ararat on Friday, July 19th to launch his 2013 album ‘Wake’.
The Pills features on guitar John Phillips, marking the first time Bridie and Phillips will perform live together since their ‘Not Drowning Waving’ days; as well as Dave Foley on drums and other guests to be announced.
An exquisite collection of songs from a fascinating musical mind, ‘Wake’ is a total immersion in sound as an exploration of space with a deliciously driving edge. The product of midnight musings, pondering a lyric shift, a texture layer, a different voicing of a chord or a melody, and with grand contributions from a plethora of musicians and singers who have added their glorious touches to the songs (see below).
“I have spent a lot of time over the last five years working on an amazing array of projects which I feel very privileged to have been involved in, but now it is time to make something for me, and this new record means the world to me” – David Bridie
‘Wake’ will be out in June this year. The first single ‘Shortest Day of The Year’ is now available here.
Artist contributors to ‘Wake’ (in no particular order):
Dave Foley (drums), Ash Naylor (Even), Ian Haug (Powderfinger), Phil Wales, Eden Mulholland (guitar parts), my old Not Drowning Waving co-hort John Phillips plays his inimitable style of guitar sounds on a couple of tracks, Marita Dyson (The Orbweavers), Rob Snarski (The Blackeyed Susans), Rebecca Coseboom (Stripmall Architecture), David’s daughter Stella Bridie, My Friend The Chocolate Cake’s Helen Mountfort and Hope Csutoros.
