CONVENT GARDEN CHAPEL
July 17 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Sunday, repeating until 28 August, 2022
Non denominational worship services at the Convent Garden Chapel in the grounds of the former Sacred Heart Convent. This historic chapel built in the 1800’s is now open to the public for the first time.
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, David and Kathy Curwen-Walker have lived in India for 6 years as missionaries. They established the Door Church in Kamanahalli, Bangalore which experienced explosive growth over four years. In 2011, they moved from India to New Zealand and purchased the St Albans Presbyterian Church in Christchurch NZ. The buildings had been badly damaged by the Christchurch earthquakes. They restored the original church building, built in 1910, to its former glory and ran regular church services there from 2011 to 2015. They also restored the church hall and the church manse. In 2015 St John’s Latimer Church aquired the land and buildings from David and Kathy and continue to hold services there today. Carrying on the renovation works that David and Kathy started, the church has continued to experience dramatic growth. Moving to Auckland NZ, David and Kathy then converted the historic 1890’s mansion, Trafalgar House, into a unique Airbnb and, over the next 6 years, established several businesses, including what is now the largest adult ballet school in New Zealand. These tentmaker enterprises have enabled them to continue their church work and missionary endeavours in India. David and Kathy are excited about now opening the Convent Garden Chapel within the grounds of the former Sacred Heart Convent on Victoria Street, Ballarat while continuing their missionary endeavours in North and South India. The Chapel is open Sundays at 10am to all believers who would like to join them in non denominational worship services.
Sundays at 10am. All welcome
