Bob Jenyns: The Art of the Traveller
05/10/2018 @ 9:00 am - 14/11/2018 @ 5:00 pm
FreeThe Art of the Traveller is an exhibition of lithographs, sculptures, drawings, screen prints and oils by Australian artist Bob Jenyns (1944 – 2015). Born Robert Jenyns, in Victoria, Jenyns was a prolific artist whose practice spanned over four decades, in which he produced a large body of work. Jenyns’ work is distinctive in style and demonstrate his witty sense of humour and passion for art. We feel extremely privileged to have been selected by his wife to exhibit these artworks that are as fresh and relevant today, as the day Bob Jenyns created them. His artwork is represented in many of the country’s largest collections, including: the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Queensland Art Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Brisbane, and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. He participated in many of Australia’s most significant art exhibitions including the first Biennale of Sydney (1973), the 1973, 1975 and 1978 Mildura Sculpture Triennials, the 1981 Australian Perspecta, the second Australian Sculpture Biennale, and the 1990 Sculpture Triennial. Jenyns was a finalist in the 2006 Helen Lempriere National Sculpture Award, and in 2007 won the award with his work Pont de l’archeveche.
